$

HI All,

I have recently bought a 6th gen Intel Core i5-6200U 2.30 GHz with turbo boost up to 2.80 GHz laptop. It has 8GB RAM and 1 TB HDD with Intel HD Graphics 520 with shared graphics memory. Is this GPU will be suffice to play the high end games like CS etc. Can we upgrade this GPU to some what 2GB?

Thanks in advance.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7559 - Install Windows 7

Hello:

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7559 laptop that came pre-loaded with Windows 10.  The Anniversary update  for WIn 10 refuses to install with error code 0x80070003 and I have tried multiple things from online research all to no avail.  Tired of the thing constantly downloading the update for it to fail... Sick of Win 10 frankly as well as it truly is horrid.  My question:  is there anything preventing me from reformatting my C Drive and installing Win 7 Ultimate x64 on this laptop model?  I assume I could pick up the needed Win 7 drivers from the Dell site.  Please advise.

So, i have this weird discolored/brighter area on my screen, i have no idea what it is or why is it there. Arrived like this from the box.

Anyone has any ideas before i initiate a super costly return procedure? (i don't live in the u.s...)

You can see the problem i'm talking about in the upper right corner here

Any idea or help will be much appreciated. free starbucks if someone pitches an idea that actually fixes this.

Already connected the laptop to another screen- GPU perfectly fine, this is not an artifact.

I forgot to connect laptop to wall outlet, when noticed, my battery was almost fully discharged (Battery info show  1% and 3:03 time to charge),  does this mean battery can be damaged?

Got Confused From My CPU

Hello

I have Inspiron N5030 Laptop, and I wanted to upgrade my CPU which is Pentium T4500 2.3 Ghz

to a Core 2 Duo T9500 2.6 Ghz , my Laptop socket is P (478) as shown in the image below

but when I unscrewed my laptop and got into the socket itself

I found that it is not Socket P (478) , it is Socket (479) (mPGA479M)

1- Which socket is true for my laptop ?

2- Will the Core 2 Duo T9500 work on the socket (479) ?

Does anyone know if I can use 32 gb (4x8GB) of non-ECC ram in a Precision T1700 tower?  The spec sheet says ECC ram to is required to get 32 gb but I was thinking of getting 2x8gb now and another 2x8gb later.

Hi

My keyboard has non-backlit and I want a backlit keyboard.

Does the motherboard have a connector for it or am I stuck with the non-backlit version?

Inspiron 13 5378 SSD upgrade

Hi,

I purchased an Inspiron 13 5378 which comes with a 1TB HDD. I'd like to upgrade to an SSD. I'm wondering if there is an unused M.2 slot where I could insert a new SSD? Would it be possible to transfer data such that the SSD is the primary disk, and the HDD is just for data storage?

If there is no M.2 slot, I suppose the only option would be to replace the HDD with a 2.5" SSD. Is that right?

I haven't received the laptop yet, just asking in advance.

Thanks

Dell Latitude E6400 intermittently no video and chaotic POST response

I have acquired an used Dell Latitude E6400 laptop that has a weird problem.

A couple of times, all of a sudden the video faded away, and didn't come back for dozen power cycles. Screen/inverter/video chip were ok though, as colors displayed just fine when I press D + power. Also, when video faded away, all LEDs on the board turned off, except those on the back of the screen.

Also, another time, it didn't POST at all. When powered up, it would spin drive and fan for a few seconds and shut down, leaving some LEDs on (HDD + WiFi) for another few seconds, after which the LEDs turns off, flickering for a split second. A couple of times, after all that, it even kept blinking all 3 keyboard LEDs = System board error. This happened when on battery, AC or both, so I don't think si power source. I think is either the power circuit or the logic circuit on system board.

Right now the laptop is fine. It passed all diagnostic tests, and power cycles are working perfect. But I'm sure the issue will pop up again at some point.

This is most likely a motherboard issue, but I'm wondering if it can be fixed without board replacement, if a simple fix is applicable.

So I have a couple of questions about general hardware design of system boards:

1. Is this common behavior for BIOS chip failure?

2. Vaguely, what is the control path between BIOS software and the system board LEDs? What would cause them to flicker while nothing else would? Could corrupt BIOS cause that?

3. Are there separated power "rails" for CPU-HDD/video/etc and could one work without the other?

As you can tell, I'm having a hack at it and I'm attempting to do a guesstimate exclusion diagnosis.

Thanks

Overheating caused serious screen issue on XPS - no longer usable

For months the XPS has been overheating and turning itself off while sitting on my desk. Not great but I could live with it. Recently, I went to visit a colleague and put the XPS in a protective sleeve without turning it off and for once it didn't turn off by itself when overheated and now the screen looks like the below. I am assuming this is a hardware problem? Works fine when plugged in to an external screen btw.

Any ideas?

Inspiron 3521 won't start up

My laptop will only start up maybe 1 in 5 times at the moment.

When it doesn't work, it gets stuck before the dell splash screen with what sounds like a 'fizzing' or 'popping' sound every 3 seconds (It's not the usual bios beep codes) that will keep going for as long as I leave the laptop on. It it does start up okay, there are no errors and it boots into windows fine.

I've run the bios diagnostics (on one of the few occasions I could get to that stage) and it didn't find any faults.

Is this a system board failure? Or something I might be able to troubleshoot further?

Many thanks.

Computer not recognizing SSD in caddy

I recently replaced the CD/DVD optical drive in my Inspiron i14-3437-a40 with a new 240GB Kingston UV400 ssd drive in a caddy, but it's not being recognized at all by the computer. It does not appear neither in the BIOS nor in Device Manager/Disk Manager tools in Windows. The CD/DVD drive worked fine though, so I doubt it's an issue with the connector.  I have updated the SATA drivers and the BIOS using Dell's tool in the website, but apparently it was not a driver issue. What could be the reasons for this problem?

Inferior Dell products, support and downloads!

I am a avid dell user and i used to until today fully recommend and support Dell. After all the let downs and frustration I come today knowing I was wrong and should have never reccmend this product and service. My main issue is why I can pay several thousand dollars on a product and get the most amazing service regardless my issue and how I buy a mid range product and it can not even browse the internet properly. I build websites and this product worked fine for the fisrt maybe week? So, sense I can not receive tht proper help I take matters in my own hand. I go to the website to update my software and thier tools do not work. In fact every single driver, bios, and firmware update is uncompatible or is several years old. Also come to find out that some of the software preloaded is completely uncompatible with the installed OS. In fact it is maybe compatible with a device from several years prior to production. So, what am i to do? I call support and spend multiple hours with no actual knowledge  or help. In fact they admit the product is bad/worg and know i need help."they can't fix it!" So i am pooled around onl to talk to a barely employee who thinks lying to me is going to help and also infers that he/she knows better. So, while im losing more money an hour than these employees make in a month or maybe A year this company refuses to help. Gives me false phone numbers to random countries. And Admit their wrong but do nothing to fix it. OK HERE ME! A baby can do better with support. SO i must tell all they do not care about you and every single person that writes blogs on this site are in fact fake and paid to do so. It's called being a site affiliate. They make a sale of their comment its money in the pocket and of zero concern of their own or company. Do not belive me check yourself. I have over 10 records with a dozen websites and multiple products sold. Dell is not AMERICAN in fact the outsource 100% of there support. CHek twice that american product is made in China and supported in Taiwan And India..    Just Saying..

I took the Cmos battery out and waited over an hour before replacing it thinking it would reset the password but it did not. Im out of options and my computer is a paper weight at this point. Is there any other solutions i can try to get passed this issue? Thanks!

We received hard drive out of spec notice (Error code 2000-0151, Validation 66052, incorrect status = 48)  from boot diagnostics ONE MONTH out of warranty.

Purchased new HD from Dell received yesterday : Toshiba DT01ACA200  2TB 7500rpm

Getting RED X with No bootable devices found.

I cannot get Win 10 install to recognize this new disk in order to format/install Windows.  I cannot find how to do this in UEFI settings, or any Dell documentation.

I have tried several things to no avail.
